The inspiration for a wearable representation of the Apollo Guidance Computer interface known as the DSKY (Diss-Key) was that of our founder in late 2019, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. Having a passion for the technical history of the Apollo space program and a background in electronic and mechanical design, our founder began the long process of designing a fully functional wearable representation of the DSKY referencing, original archival documentation and drawings. To this end, a design that accurately represents the face of the original DSKY to a scale of 4.6:1 was realised.

Throughout this endeavour, our team remained steadfast in their commitment to deliver an experience that is both pure and aesthetically authentic for the wearer. This entailed using only the highest quality materials and components in the design, ensuring that every detail contributed to an immersive and genuine experience. By upholding these principles, the DSKY Moonwatch not only pays homage to the historic Apollo Guidance Computer interface but also offers a unique and captivating journey into the world of space exploration.

Within the first year, the company commissioned the talents of a highly experienced ex-Formula One engineer to oversee the electronics design and battery implementation of which he is one of the United Kingdom’s leading experts. The following year the company was fortunate to commission a second ex-Formula One engineer to continue the software development started by our founder bringing a wealth of expertise to this particular field and in turn, offering our customers a structured and robust software platform on which they can integrate their programming ideas.

It has been our objective, whenever feasible to handle a significant portion of the manufacturing process and all of the assembly in-house. This approach guarantees that we can uphold the high standards that we are committed to maintaining. The company has collaborated closely with numerous industry-leading suppliers and manufacturers to create the DSKY Moonwatch. In many instances, this entails utilising cutting-edge micro-machining and manufacturing techniques. Many of these suppliers have found the story of the DSKY so compelling that they have sought marketing collaborations with our company and these will feature in our regular news feeds over the coming weeks.

After an extensive four-year development program, the team has successfully created a product that provides our customers with an engaging, authentic, and feature-rich experience of the Apollo DSKY.
